&& we will never know the mysteries of love, for it comes in all forms~~~
In quiet solitude surrounded by books, Alucard sat in the back by one of the computers, half-hidden by the rows of shelves, save for the occasional flick of his fingers over the keyboard, revealing the white of his gloves. In this fast-paced, crazy world, the library was the one place where time seemed to have come to a standstill, the silence enveloping you in its quiet shere of influence, allowing you to think clearly.
On the monitor, a Microsoft Office Word 2007 tab was displayed. Alucard needed to finish his rough draft for the research paper his English teacher had issued him two class periods ago. However, the screen remained blank, except for his name, the block number, and the date. There were a lot of things on his mind. One of those things was that he was aware of the time. It was 3:00, and he was supposed meet Margaret upstairs.
But for some reason, Alucard couldn't. For the moment, he was hiding, trying to rethink the whole situation over. What am I doing? he thought, sighing in despair. These sessions with Margaret..what was it? Why did he agree? Why do I feel this way? Truth be told, Alucard still harboured feelings for Raven, but it was frayed. They had been on shaky ground since he came out of his coma. And now, he could feel himself being torn in two different directions.
In one direction he was depressed and in angst, while in the other direction, he felt somewhat whole again. Margaret was filling in that empty space that Raven had left behind. But to Alucard, in the end, no matter what direction he was going, desired the same thing. All he wished for was to be loved. Alucard had been a solitary man for a long time, the loneliness unfathomable to any human. Before, life had been much worse. He'd lost everything - his parents, older brothers, freedom, then later was betrayed by Radu.
Oh how bitter this made him. When he was released and placed on the Wallachian throne, as his lineage demanded, he was and wasn't free. Granted, Alucard wasn't chained up in a cell somewhere, but his country was stilled controlled by the Ottoman Empire. He had inherited his father's struggle. Alucard did everything he could. He strengthened the economy, passed strict laws to remedy crime, mainly dealing with boyars, and raised up an army. He even went as far as killing his own people - many of whom he was suspicious of, or people he couldn't trust.
And around this time, Alucard married and had two children; two boys. Yet still, the situation only worsened. Being battle weary and a father, juggling those two duties was quite a feat. And the Ottomans were growing more aggressive; the new sultan highly disliked the Wallachian prince, and because he was being openly defiant, the sultan now possessed a reason to send in raid after raid of the entire Ottoman Empire battalion. Each raid was devastating, destroying the landscape, many civilian casualties, much livestock lost in purposefully set fires, and the fact that Alucard's army was horribly outnumbered every time.
But this never stopped him. He refused to give up because he desired to set his country free from Turkish rule and become independent. In each battle, Alucard made it his goal to take a few Ottomans down with him. He even organized several successful raids, killing 4,000 in a night raid, and then killing 6,000 after crossing the Danube River, leading the assult in a surprise attack. In the fray, he killed with his bare hands the men who had murdered his parents and brothers. Despite these small victories, his army still didn't stand a chance against the battalion.
So he resorted to other tactics. During the battles, he'd capture enemy soldiers and torture them before having them brutally killed by impaling. From then on, Alucard would forever be known as Vlad the Impaler. But it was that one night, that one night, that forever changed him. The Ottomans launched their own surprise attack, and the siege left him mortally wounded and his wife and children dead. Consumed by grief, despair, and anger, Alucard drank his wife's blood, all of it, claiming in agony that the blood was the life, and shall be his. That night, the first vampire was born.
But he became cold in the months before Radu killed him. Many women called upon him, but he rejected them all. Alucard couldn't love any other woman, never again. After Illona..he couldn't picture himself with anyone else. Until Mina came back into his life, and he rekindled their childhood feelings. Coming back to the present, Alucard sighed. Raven was very similar to Mina..the black hair, dark eyes, pale skin. He wondered, if this why he'd loved her so strongly. Though however much sense it made to Alucard, it didn't matter now..
