//Author's Note: I looked over the short story I wrote, and decided against sending it in. This is the replacement submission - I'm so glad I got it finished before the 15th! Don't worry, when I get a chance to, I'll also post the short story. I realized I wasn't out of touch with poetry like I had originally thought. Of course, the title on the copy I'm sending is different. The one I'm sending in is called A Vampire's Lament, though my original intention for this was to be about Alucard. Oh well. This lament can be seen in the perspective of both parts of Alucard's life; past and present. Feedback and critiques are appreciated.//
Alucard's Lament
Prideful once, I stood above The tumultuous world of the Living – myself, a shadow Turning in the void.
500 years – distilling tears; Each tragedy drowning Me, until I could no longer Recognize myself in the silence of sorrow.
Of love, and loves lost, surely Did I weep; creature of profound Memory – wistfully I recall them When Death’s hands could not touch me.
Consumed was I by the shattering Emptiness; centuries it seemed My stilled heart withheld No emotion.
Unplanned and unforeseen, my Fall from grace – doomed to Forever walk in the darkness Alone, my only friend – loneliness.
